REVIEW: "DESPICABLE ME 2" by Jayne Waterford

Well this is a harmless couple of hours. And we get to be parented by Steve Carell's Gru. He's so good at explaining stuff. The thing is that last time, in the first "DESPICABLE ME" we didn't know Gru and frankly, we didn't like him. This time we had none of that tension to work against. This time, Gru is already mad or dom or some combination of dad and mom. He will go to any lengths not to disappoint his children and we already expect it.

Gru's girlfriend Lucy (Kristen Wiig), if you don't mind me giving you a spoiler, is the epitome of where girls are going these days. She's in your face and uninhibited and talented and confident and doesn't mind making a guy look a bit silly, thank god. We like her.

Steve Coogan who pops up every bloody where voices Silas and the minions, voiced by the directors, find much more emotional depth but generally I find the characters more two dimensional than last time. And it was a little more pinned down to reality. It was in a mall. It was nicer but not as great :)

Very satisfying. 7/10
